Why are my emails landing in spam?
Last updated: July 3, 2026
Context
When sending emails through sequences, you may receive feedback from prospects that your emails have landed in their spam folder. This can be concerning, but it does not necessarily mean there is a widespread deliverability issue with your account.
Answer
If a prospect reports that your email landed in their spam folder, keep in mind that each email provider has its own spam filters and thresholds — some stricter than others. This means the issue may be isolated to that specific prospect's inbox or email provider, and not a general problem affecting all of your outreach.
To maximize deliverability, make sure you are following these best practices when crafting your emails:
Avoid including images in your emails, as these can trigger spam filters.
Avoid including links where possible, as these are also commonly flagged by spam filters.
Additionally, mailbox warm-up is an ongoing process handled automatically by Topo. Newly set up or recently warmed mailboxes may occasionally see emails land in spam, but deliverability typically improves over time as the mailbox builds a positive sending reputation.
