Why are my sequences not launching or enrolling contacts?

Last updated: September 21, 2026

If your sequence isn't launching or certain contacts aren't being enrolled, there are several common causes. This article covers the main reasons contacts may be blocked from enrollment and how to resolve them.

Common causes and solutions

Account exclusions

Contacts associated with companies on your account exclusion list are blocked from enrollment by default.

To allow contacts from excluded accounts to enroll:

  1. Navigate to your sequence's Settings and open the Advanced section.

  2. Toggle on the "Contact people at excluded accounts" option.

  3. Once enabled, select the contacts that are not yet in the sequence and click "Enroll in sequence" to add them.

Note: This setting must be enabled on a per-sequence basis and will allow contacts from all excluded accounts to be enrolled in that sequence, so use it with care.

Contact-level blocklists and invalid emails

Contacts may be excluded if they are on blocklists at the contact level or if they don't have a valid email address. Verify that the contacts you're trying to enroll have valid email addresses and are not on any contact-level blocklists.

Enrollment settings for linked lists

If you chose "only add future contacts" when linking a list to your sequence, only new additions will be enrolled, not existing contacts.

To enroll existing leads: Select "Enroll existing leads now" when linking the list to a sequence.
