All the ways you can build a lead search in Topo

This article walks you through every search type available when you build a new lead search in Topo. Whether you want to filter a database, track buying signals, or enrich your own data, you'll find the right starting point here.


How to start a new lead search

There are three ways to start a new lead search:

  1. Click Search in the left sidebar

  2. Click Lists in the left sidebar → click the New Lead Search button (top right)

  3. Click Leads in the left sidebar → click the New Lead Search button (top right)

On the lead search page, describe your targeting in the text box or pick one of the search type cards below. Use the Use organization targeting toggle to control whether your Organisation Context filters are applied to the search.


Default suggestions

When you land on the lead search page, Topo displays a set of cards tailored to your organization's context. These are quick-start shortcuts designed to get you running in one click:

  1. Lead database — Query a structured database of companies and contacts filtered by industry, size, location, and more.

  2. LinkedIn search — Identify prospects based on their LinkedIn behavior and professional background.

  3. Signal monitoring — Track real-time business events and trigger outreach at the right moment.

  4. Web Search — Point Topo at any public web page and extract structured lead data.

  5. Your lists — Bring your own data and let Topo deduplicate, enrich, and apply criteria.

Each card shows a contextual example based on your company's settings. You can click any card to get started immediately, or select Browse more ideas to see the full menu of options described below.

Lead database

Query a structured database of millions of companies and contacts. This group is ideal when you have a clear ideal customer profile and want to filter by firmographic criteria.

Find prospects based on their social behavior and professional background. Use these cards when you want to target people by what they do on LinkedIn rather than just who they are.
