Assignment settings

Who owns contacts and accounts when they arrive in Topo is set under Settings → Contacts & accounts → Assignment. The page is titled Assignment, and the choice is the Assignment rule. Changing the rule applies to contacts and accounts that arrive after the change.
Rule | What it does |

Account first (marked Popular) | One account, one rep. Two people never work the same company. Every contact goes to the owner of its account. If the account has no owner yet, whoever brings the first contact owns both the account and the contact. |
Contact first | Each rep keeps the contacts they bring. A contact goes to whoever brings it, even if its account belongs to someone else. Several reps can work different people in the same company. |
Account first is the default. Admins and owners can change the rule. Members see the choices read-only, with the note “Only admins can change this setting.”
