Troubleshooting Frequent Logouts / Disconnections

Last updated: August 11, 2026

If you're being logged out of Topo often, work through the steps below in order to identify and resolve the cause.

Make sure you're using Topo on a single tab

Using Topo or having it open in two browser tabs might create backend request conflicts, which result in errors and user kick-outs. Make sure to close all additional tabs and work on Topo on a single page.

Clear your browser cache and cookies

This is the first thing to try, as it resolves the issue in most cases.

  1. Clear cookies for agent.topo.io in your browser settings

  2. Clear your browser cache

  3. Log back in and check if the disconnections stop

Check which browser you're using

Some browsers are less stable with Topo, Safari in particular. If you're using Safari, or other browsers, switch to Chrome and see if the issue persists.

Check for a Google account / SSO mismatch

If you're signed into a Google account in your browser that's different from the one you're a member of on Topo, while also logging in via SSO, this causes a disconnect roughly every 2 minutes. Make sure the Google account active in your browser matches the one used for your Topo SSO login.

Check your browser extensions

Certain Chrome extensions conflict with Topo and can cause it to malfunction, including random logouts.

  • Google Translate is a known culprit if it's active on the page — disable it for agent.topo.io

  • If the issue continues, disable your other extensions one by one to find which one is causing the conflict

Still having trouble?

If none of the steps above resolve the disconnections, get in touch with our support team with:

  • The exact time(s) you were disconnected

  • Your organisation name and email address

  • A full screenshot of the error message, if one appeared

We'll escalate to the tech team for a deeper investigation.
