How do I target different audiences for specific lists?

Context

When creating lists, you may want to target different audiences without having to modify your organization's foundational targeting settings each time. You might be wondering how to adapt targeting for individual lists while keeping your organization context intact.

Answer

You don't need to update the organization context every time you want to change your list/sequence targets. Here's how the targeting system works:

Organization Context

This captures the general background of your organization and your outbound approach, serving as a baseline for the AI.

List-Specific Targeting

When you want to target a different audience for a specific list, simply write your targeting requirements directly in the lead search prompt.

To target different audiences for individual lists:

  1. Navigate to the Lists page and click on "New List".

  2. In the lead search prompt field, specify your desired audience (job titles, company types, geographic regions, etc. Note on geographic targeting: When filtering by geography, distinguish between company location and contact location. Use “HQ Country” to filter by where the company's headquarters is located, or use “Locations” to filter by where the actual contact/person is based. If you want contacts in a specific region (e.g., US-based contacts), use the “Locations” filter rather than the company HQ filter.)

  3. The AI will prioritize what you write in the prompt over the organization context

  4. If any targeting information is missing from your prompt, the AI will fall back on your organization context. You will see those filters in the collapsed section "Organization Filters".

This approach allows you to customize targeting for each list without affecting your foundational organization settings, making it easier to create multiple lists with different target audiences simultaneously.
