Why is this contact's data not up-to-date?

Last updated: June 4, 2026

Topo aggregates data from multiple third-party providers. This gives you access to a huge volume of best-in-class contact and company information to fuel your outbound motion.

Data is never 100% accurate — and that's normal

Outbound is inherently data-reliant, and no database in the world is perfectly up to date at all times. Of course, contact and company information has a life-cycle; for instance, a valid work email is useful only until the contact switches company; a company url is so only until the org sells that domain.

It's our goal to keep on top of market best practices to ensure freshness and quality of the data we provide our customers.

Regular data updates

We regularly update our data to ensure everything is fresh for your outbound; no action needed on your end.

If you spot a small inconsistency or an outdated field, that's not unusual, and it doesn't mean something is broken. Small errors are part of working at scale with real-world data. When doing outbound, teams must be at ease with the fact that a small percentage of their outreach will end up nowhere due to various reasons, including data freshness. Keeping a good balance between volume and quality ensures optimal results and allows reps to overcome data-related issues.

Data quality: a few examples

Since we aggregate data from several providers, any inaccuracies on their side will be reflected in ours.

These aren't use cases we can fully control, but we actively work on identifying and filtering these cases to give you the cleanest data possible.

Copilot mode and contact-level hand-made personalization allow you to overcome these corner cases.

Social network link instead of company url

Some companies list their Instagram or Linktree URL as their website or career page. In those cases, that's what will appear in Topo as the company URL. People associated with these companies then might figure as working for Linktree in Topo.

Enterprise accounts

The same applies to large enterprise organisations: these companies often operate under multiple subsidiaries, entities, or domains. This can translate into several different URLs or company names representing the same real-world account. As a result, some leads may be associated with a different entity than expected — which can occasionally affect matching and exclusions. This is a structural characteristic of working at scale with complex organizational data.

People with several jobs

Many data mismatch reasons come from the fact that some people have more than one active job on their profile. That's usually the case for people who have side-roles in companies' boards, or have advisory positions. In Topo, these leads might be associated with the wrong company.

Bottom line

If you see a contact with outdated or unexpected data, don't panic. It's a known limitation of working with large-scale, provider-dependent databases.
