How do I build an account list?
Last updated: August 31, 2026
Context
An account list groups companies rather than people. It is the building block for company-led prospecting: once a set of companies is in a list, you can scope a lead search to it, hand it to a teammate, or keep it in sync with your CRM.
Answer
There are three ways to build one. All three produce the same thing, so pick whichever matches where your data already lives.
1. From the Accounts page
Best when the companies are already in Topo.
Go to Accounts in the left sidebar.
Filter or search until you have the companies you want.
Select them with the checkboxes on the left.
Click Add to list in the action bar, then either pick an existing account list or create a new one.
2. From your CRM
Best when the segment already exists in HubSpot and you want to keep the two in step.
Go to Accounts and click Import accounts, or start from Settings > Lists.
Choose the HubSpot import option. It only appears if your HubSpot integration is connected.
Browse and select the company segment you want.
Static imports are a one-off snapshot. Use the manual Refresh button to pull in new members when you need to.
Dynamic imports keep syncing in the background every hour, so companies entering the HubSpot segment turn up in Topo on their own. You can pause or resume syncing from the list at any time.
3. From a CSV
Best when the list came from somewhere else entirely, such as a conference attendee list or a spreadsheet a colleague sent you.
Upload a CSV of companies and Topo deduplicates against what you already have, so importing a file that overlaps with your existing accounts will not create duplicates.
What to do next
Once the list exists, the usual next step is finding people at those companies. See How do I find leads at companies I already have?
